Who doesn't want their birthday to be celebrated for 3 straight weeks?? Especially when its the big 2-5! Well, I had this lucky privilege, celebrating with my family in Charlotte over Christmas break.....
with a lovely dinner and cake.....
and then celebrated again with David's family a few days later in High Point...
and then again on my actual birthday, January 8th back in Houston. Since none of my close friends and family were around that day, David really outdid himself trying to make me feel special.....with a full breakfast at 6 am that morning, lots of fun gifts from Crate and Barrel and speciality cupcakes, a special night out at Mark's American Cuisine (especially thanks to a gift card from Christmas) and his valuable time helping me clean the apartment the next day.

It was such a great birthday!
But then it got even better when my little brother William came to visit this weekend!!! Although he never visited us in Atlanta (which was within driving distance), we were excited for him to take time out of his last semester of college to come hang out with us in Texas. We had an awesome time showing him the "sights" of Houston, meeting up with some friends for meals and introducing him to some of our favorite foods. But by far the highlight of the entire weekend was buying a NEW TV!
Here's some background: We have been lucky enough to have been using David's grandmother's old tv for the past year. It works great and was free - so what more could you ask for. The only problem is that David had a hard time seeing it from the sofa (it was a bit smaller than most tvs) and we decided to cancel our cable service and therefore were stranded from all news and other tv entertainment. We had been thinking about purchasing a new tv for a few weeks but weren't in any rush to do anything about it. ENTER - William. He immediately sees our 3rd generation tv and says it is time to upgrade. So most of our afternoon was spent researching and purchasing a new 32 inch flatscreen. But the best part about the whole afternoon - David bought the TV for 20% off!

As a previously opened item, David snagged a bargain by getting this TV for $70 off. It was missing a power cord (which he convinced them to throw in for free) and the 4 screws that held the tv to the base. So these tough guys just carried that TV into Buffalo Hardware to find the right screws - for only $1.63! It was such a day for deals!!

The finished product, complete with surround sound and DVD player. The boys are so proud. And how did we get cable, you ask? Thanks to an antenna, we now have over 50 channels for free!! Granted, a lot of them are in Spanish, but we have enough to watch the news and the Office - so all we need!
To wrap up our weekend fun, we took William to Cedar Creek (the cool bar with the Christmas lights). I thought this picture really summed up our personalities and taste in beers....

And lastly, all visitors must visit the Kolache Factory and Shipleys. William was a big fan of both!
